Communication Efforts2008 proved to us the value of our Director of Policy and Communications, Jim Waters, a veteran newspaper reporter and broadcaster. Jim is the only white person to host a radio call-in program “The Values Coalition” on WLLV-AM in Louisville, the city’s leading black radio station, accessible to more than 1.2 million people throughout the Louisville metro area, including much of southern Indiana.
Jim is also broadcasting new radio commentaries to our wiki at FreedomKentucky.org. The Kentucky News Network, which has 99 affiliates, is making his 90-second Bluegrass Audio radio commentaries available to their affiliates throughout the Commonwealth.
Jim’s weekly Bluegrass Beacon column continues to earn media coverage and subscribers. It’s popular following generates debate and discussion at the grassroots level on the most serious challenges facing Kentucky and provides valuable feedback and support for the institute. It is now carried regularly by over 22 newspapers, up from 17 in June.
Like the Bluegrass Beacon, the institute’s Shine the Light (STL) editorials reside at BIPPS.org. These releases are based on the format of newspaper editorials, accompanied by a cartoon designed to drive home the point of the commentary. Read more about Jim under the [Who We Are] link.
