KentuckyVotes.org

April, 2008

One of the greatest protections that citizens have from tyranny is an open goverment.  Lord Acton said "Power tends to corrupt.  And absolute power corrupts absolutely."  Centralized power tends to dissipate when the shroud of darkness is thrown off by the light of public scrutiny.  Kentuckyvotes.org is that light.

It is vital that Kentuckians are made aware of the decisions that our legislators are making and the bills that they are considering.  The transparency that is created by this website is as valuable as gold to the Kentucky taxpayer.

I use this site as a tool to prepare for my radio show.  It helps me inform the listener of good and bad legislation.  The listener can then take action because they are armed with the strongest weapon of all.  Information.  Its easy for people to log on and find out about new laws that may affect them and the way their tax dollars are being spent.  With this website in operation, there is no excuse for the uninformed voter!

Sincerely,
Leland Conway
