The Bluegrass Institute for Public Policy Solutions and the Black Alliance for Educational Options will host a joint press conference today to address the failing education cycle for black and low-income students.
Presenters from BIPPS include our president, Jim Waters, and the BIPPS staff education analyst, Richard Innes. Waters and Innes will be joined by an outstanding group of speakers including Pastor Jerry Stephenson, BAEO State Director, and Mattie Jones, Gracie Lewis and Lenora Yarbrough. All are active and experienced in civil rights issues.
Innes will present a new BIPPS report at the conference that will update the institute’s Blacks Falling Through Gaps report released in June.
The updated report, which will be available in the freedomkentucky.org Wiki site shortly, looks at more recent test results and graduation rates in Jefferson County’s public schools.
You can be a part of the action at 5 pm today in front of the Jefferson County Public Schools administration building at 3332 Newburg Road in Louisville.
